Salinas:
Salinas is a coastal city located in the Province of Santa Elena, Ecuador. It is the seat of the canton that bears its name. The westernmost city on mainland Ecuador, Salinas is an important tourist center. Recently, Salinas was the center of controversy during the contentious "more fun, less sun," debate. It is the site of the ISA World Junior Surfing Games Ecuador 2009. There are two major yacht clubs in Salinas, the first is Salinas Yacht Club, which is a good bit smaller than the impressive Puerto Lucia Yacht Club, in Santa Elena, in an area known as 'La Libertad' which, in Spanish means; 'The Freedom Town'. Puerto Lucia boasts a hotel, several good places to eat, a private beach and apartment block buildings, as well as the large marina and port, it was developed by Ricardo Palau.
Playas, Guayas:Playas (officially known as General Villamil Playas) is a coastal city located in the province of Guayas, Ecuador. It is the seat of the canton of Playas, created in 1989. As of the census of 2001, there are 24,070 people residing within city limits. The city takes its official name from the independence hero, General José de Villamil. Playas is an important tourist center and is located approximately 96 km from Guayaquil.
Puerto López:
Puerto López (16,000 inhabitants), is a small fishing village set in an arched bay on the Pacific coast in the Ecuadorian Manabí Province. Puerto Lopéz is the Machalilla National Park headquarters. The main industries include fishing and ecotourism. The street closest to the beach has many restaurants, cabanas that provide drinks, and some nightclubs.
Fishing is an important activity in Puerto Lopéz. In local waters there are Amberjack, dolphin, wahoo, marlin, and tuna of many different species.
Montańita:
Montańita is a small coastal town located in the province of Santa Elena about 180 kilometers northwest of Guayaquil. Translated as “little hill”, it became famous very slowly, decades ago, as a place only for surfing, with only a few rustic fishermen houses and one or two surfers tent on summer time. Today Montańita is a multicultural beach, with tourists from all over the world.
